Unfortunately, most of us especially in my country Kenya do not give much attention to (eating) carrots the way we do to mugokaa, miraa (khat)! Do you expect to find a post on 10 benefits of miraa surely? NO!
However, when you use carrots in your meals, you treat or prevent yourself from different diseases/ailments. Actually, carrots contain many nutrients such as:
- Vitamins A, B, C and K.
- Minerals and fiber.
Here are the 10 benefits of eating carrots:
1.) Carrots are Good for Deworming
In fact, it is one of the best natural deworming foods. Children are most vulnerable to worms and that is why among the 10 benefits, I put it first.
When you are eating carrots, the first area in your alimentary canal to be scrapped of excess mucus and worms is your gut or oesophagus!
Thereafter, the deworming proceeds to the stomach, all the way to the small intestine and ends in your rectum through excretion by the anus.
2.) Skin Cleansing/Purification
More so, as human beings we have 3 skin layers before reaching the flesh.
Therefore, there is the top skin layer known as the epidermis that you can topically clean it with soap but how about cleansing the second skin layer, the dermis?
Definitely, that is where the fruit skin/peels do the cleansing! That is when your dermis benefits from the healing properties of Vitamin C and beta-carotene..amazed?
Now, if you can start eating fruits with their peel, the better for you. Your body will yield more than these 10 benefits. Although some are bitter but you have a choice.
3.) Carrots eliminate Phlegm
When you are old enough, say 60 – 70 years, it becomes common to have regular phlegm. The best nutritional advice I can benefit you with is EATING CARROTS!
4.) Carrots boost your eye health
Your eyes have a soul just like any living thing. Therefore, when you are blessed with a long life, it will reach a point you start losing sight. This sort of condition is known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Earlier, I mentioned beta-carotene and lutein as nutrients found in carrots. These are carotenoids that have the task of preventing eye damage due to free radicals.
By saying so, if you have an elderly person with the AMD condition, just look for the yellow carrots and make a juice from them. They are rich in the abovementioned nutrients.
Nowadays, we find teenagers and even kids below 10 years on spectacles. This simply indicates that most have eye problems.
As a medical practitioner, my nutritional knowledge tells me eating carrots on a regular basis would have (at least) prevented their eye problems.
Mostly, from these 10 benefits of eating carrots, we all know of the carrot relationship with eye health. For those who are not aware…
Did you know…drinking carrot juice helps prevent eyesight problems?
5.) Carrots helps your Respiratory System
By DRINKING ITS JUICE, carrots benefit/help you in dealing with chest problems/diseases. Carrots cleanse your respiratory system.
In addition, if you have a runny nose (rhinorrhoea) just drink the carrot juice. It will definitely eliminate the mucus.
6.) Eating Carrots prevents hiccups
While in my office at the hospital, some have been asking me about hiccups; what could be the cause and how to treat it or prevent its occurrence.
Always, this is what I tell everyone that hiccups are spasms of the diaphragm that come involuntarily. They last for a short period but it does not mean that there is a serious health issue.
Therefore, if you are eating carrots regularly, it will help you avoid hiccups thus benefiting your health.
7.) Carrots support your liver’s health!
Carrots are rich in plant flavanoids and beta-carotene which stimulate as well as support your overall liver functions.
You may spot someone with an swollen belly (ascites) that will definitely give you a sign that this is a liver disease.
Naturally, you can prevent or minimize your risk of getting liver diseases such as hepatitis, cirrhosis by just eating carrots or drinking its juice.
This is because the vitamin A in carrots prevents liver disease. Also, the benefits of the antioxidants are that they reduce liver toxicity.
8.) Eating Carrots will “mend” your Urine.
The organ responsible for urine production is your kidneys and the bladder is for storage. Therefore, if you have problems with your urine, you better start eating carrots.
You will benefit…A LOT
In addition, carrots have low potassium so, if you are suffering from kidney stones for example, take its juice. It is effective especially when you take it three times; morning, afternoon and evening.
This will therefore, facilitate melting of the kidney stones thus relieving you. Sometimes the stones come out as one pebble or particles.
An indication of this actually, is when your urine takes time to come out (excrete) and then suddenly..POOF! the stone and your urine come out in a splash!
9.) Carrots help in Treating Yellow Fever
Generally, yellow fever is a viral disease that has no cure. Nutritionally speaking, eating carrots eases symptoms like muscle pain, fever and dehydration.
However, as a reminder, carrots have antioxidants and fiber that support your liver function. In this state, taking carrots limits your liver damage. You benefit during metabolism and digestion eases as a result.
10.) Carrots helps treat stamina pain and spinal problems.
Now this is where it gets more interesting! Hmn…did you know if you suffer from regular painful stamina clearly indicates YOU DO NOT HAVE SEX or YOU OVER DO IT?
Just optimize your sexual intercourse otherwise, take carrots for that painful stamina!
Moreover, you benefit your reproductive health by eating carrots. Maybe you need to have a baby boy. So, on the D-day, take enough carrots with your spouse.
Garden carrots increase sperm counts while the ones from the bush increase your libido. Therefore, it depends on which one and how you want to eat the carrots get the benefits.
Your back or spinal problems can also heal when you add carrot juice in your daily meals. LET CARROTS BE IN OUR DAILY MEALS TO BENEFIT OUR HEALTH.
